Dr. John Gatens
Dr. John Gatens (Dr. Jay) is originally from Fraziers Bottom, WV. He attended West
Virginia University and graduated with a bachelor of science in Animal and Veterinary
Sciences. Dr. Jay is a 2005 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary
Medicine. He spent 5 years in mixed animal practice in SE Indiana prior to relocating
to central Ohio. Dr. Jay enjoys surgery with an interest in orthopedic procedures.
He is married to Dr. Nikki and together they have 3 dogs (Walter, Andi, and Daisy),
a small herd of goats, and a cow (Cindy) He enjoys the outdoors and spending
time with friends and family. Dr. Gatens has a daughter, Gabrielle.
Dr. Nicole Waidelich Gatens
Dr. Nicole Waidelich Gatens (Dr. Nikki) is originally from Amanda, OH and attended
Teays Valley High School. She graduated from Capital University with a bachelor
of Arts in Biology and is a 2005 graduate of The Ohio State University College of
Veterinary Medicine. She and Dr. Jay were associates at a mixed animal practice
for 5 years prior to her moving back home. Dr. Nikki enjoys spending time with friends
and family, gardening, and watching college sports. Dr. Nikki has a daughter, Gabrielle.
Dr. Jacquelyn Boyd
Dr. Jacquelyn Boyd grew up in Findlay, Ohio where she developed an appreciation
for veterinary medicine caring for her family's dogs and cats. She also spent most
of her childhood showing quarter horses at the local, regional, and national level.
After earning her bachelor's degree in animal science and biology from the University
of Findlay, Dr. Boyd received her DVM from The Ohio State University in 2014. After
graduation, Dr. Boyd returned to the University of Findlay where she taught anatomy
and physiology and food animal handling courses. She helped provide care for the
many sheep, goats, and cattle at the University's Animal Science Center and mentored
pre-veterinary students. Her professional interests include preventative medicine,
ophthalmology, and dermatology. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, playing
with her two dogs, and going on adventures with her husband, Elliot.
